Meet The Doctor

Why Chiropractic?

Chiropractic was founded September 18, 1895, in the town of Davenport, Iowa along the Mississippi River. Daniel David Palmer was a magnetic healer at the time. His first patient was Harvey Lilard who was a janitor for the building his office was in. He had issues with deafness, and with the adjustment to Harvey’s cervical spine that Dr. Palmer provided, his hearing improved greatly. This therefore set the chiropractic profession in motion. Chiropractic is the largest drug-free healing art in the world. Numerous chiropractic techniques have been developed by doctors throughout the years that have paved the way for great success for our patients. Not only does chiropractic treat the typical musculature skeletal conditions such as low back pain, neck pain, and headaches, but we also deal with digestive issues, allergy treatments, and many other conditions that are not typically thought of as a chiropractic remedy.

Why Dr. John P. Heilman, D.C.?

Dr. John P. Heilman graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic and has taken over 2000 hours of continuing education classes. He has more than 42 years of experience helping people with health issues in the Sandusky and Huron, Ohio area, and has patients from many surrounding states. Dr. Heilman has had huge success with treating allergies—both airborne and food—permanently and non-invasively. His success with treating digestive issues from heartburn to Crohn’s disease has been well-documented. He has been referred to as a brilliant and gifted physician.

Dr. Heilman uses a very gentle and non-invasive method of manipulation of the spine and pelvis. He has had the pleasure of taking many educational technique programs to improve the results with his patients, including neuro-emotional work, bio-cranial work, and most recently CBT work developed by Dr. Smith in Idaho. He has combined a number of the techniques and improved them with his own original procedures called the Neo-Cortical Somatovisceral Technique or NSVT. With this technique he is stimulating the neo-cortex of the brain. This combination, along with treatment localizing on either the liver or small intestine (whichever is indicated during muscle testing), has proven to be exceptionally effective. He also practices a technique called Bio-Cranial that was developed by an osteopath in Northern Ireland. Very few American doctors perform the procedure. It has been a cornerstone for Dr. Heilman’s practice since learning the technique in 1992.

Dr. Heilman’s success with extremity work such as shoulders, carpal tunnel, plantar fascia and legs has also been very impressive.
